Orthomolecular medicine

What is orthomolecular medicine (OM) or - Therapy with micronutrients?

"Orthomolecular medicine is the maintenance of good health and the treatment of disease by altering the concentration of substances in the human body that are normally present in the body and necessary for health." -Linus Pauling

This sentence, by Linus Pauling, the two-time Nobel laureate and founder of orthomolecular medicine. Most people, including physicians, have to read this sentence two to three times to understand what particular statement is made here.

Modern techniques allow us to produce thousands of new chemical substances every year that do not exist in nature. Many such substances are used as medicines. Even if it is quite remarkable medical achievements can be achieved. So it is not easy for anyone to accept that foreign substances that by nature have no place in our body, may be used for years to restore the disturbed health. Such foreign substances are also called xenobiotics.

In contrast to such remedies are the orthomolecular therapeutics, the eubiotics. These are substances that are inherently essential in our organism, which keep us healthy and without which we soon become ill and even die. The first orthomolecular physicians thought, "What we naturally need to stay healthy can not work as a remedy when we're ill?"
In the past 40 years, for example, the healing effects of properly dosed concentrated nutrients such as vitamins, minerals, trace elements, amino acids, fatty acids and phytonutrients in chronic as well as acute diseases have been researched with great success. The fact that such simple substances as vitamins and other endogenous substances can also be therapeutically effective depends in particular on the dose in which they are used.

In good health, a small amount of such substances is enough to maintain good health. With a mild illness, we may need more of it to get well again. For the most serious diseases, very high, even the highest doses of such vitamins, etc. may be necessary to restore health. This goal is achieved by, "changing the concentration of substances in the human body, which naturally occur naturally in the body".

Targeted nutrient therapy

Linus Pauling said just this: The right, that is the sufficient dose of essential (ie vital) micronutrients (smallest nutrients) has the same or even better therapeutic effect, as the applied in modern medicine foreign substances. This finding is now at least 40 years old but unfortunately has not found in the minds of some doctors yet. On the contrary, conventional medicine considers vitamins and trace elements and other micronutrients, as therapeutic agents in diseases or as preventive means of maintaining a healthy life, in addition to a healthy diet unnecessary. A fatal mistake. Thousands of scientific studies prove the health benefits associated with such micronutrients in therapy,

No side effects

Orthomolecular medicine is truly a gentle medicine because it has no side effects at a reasonable but effective dosage and causes a real improvement. It works exclusively on the strengthening of the body's own healing mechanisms. What our bodies usually do is - ward off pathogens, repair injuries, eliminate toxins, regenerate organ functions - in short, all that keeps us alive despite all attacks on our health, all of these self-preservation powers, are optimized by the right orthomolecular micronutrients.

Orthomolecular medicine will most certainly be an important part of the medicine of the future. Understandably, it suffers from the disinterest of the pharmaceutical industry because orthomolecular therapeutics do not make much money. The reason is: you can not patent natural products and thus do not monopolize their production and application. The pharmaceutical industry, however, is the one that has the greatest influence on the use of therapeutics through research funding and massive advertising. So if you have heard little about orthomolecular medicine, it has nothing to do with the fact that this medicine would be of no use. If you want to know more about it yourself, maybe to find out how you can do something sensible for you and your family's or friends' health, So I recommend a visit to our Naturheilzentrum. Only in this way can we determine your individual deficit of micronutrients.

It is repeatedly assured by the official that there can be no vitamin or mineral deficiencies at a reasonably reasonable diet. At the same time, however, it is also admitted that the majority of Germans have a folic acid deficiency. This is correct from our point of view, after all, there has long been no case of scurvy or pellagra - two classic vitamin deficiencies of the last century. Nevertheless, orthomolecular medicine is by no means superfluous and the supplementation of nutritional supplements is enormously important.

A contradiction? No, because every human being has his own personal sense of well-being. Standard laboratory values only reflect an average value. You can imagine it like this: assuming music is a nutrient to your soul, then the offer that goes into public radio program would be sufficient for you. However, if your taste in music is somewhere else, you will not be satisfied with the radio service. So it may well be that the zinc or vitamin B6 requirement of the individual is much higher than the nutritional tables of the German Nutrition Society show. Most orthomolecular substances achieve medicinal effects at high doses. For example,  vitamin C as a high-dose-Infusion. In the hours in which a high level of vitamin C. is active in the body, numerous metabolic processes take place, a kind of house cleaning, so to speak. A well-researched work on actual norms and individual needs has been published by pharmacist and pharmaceutical expert  Uwe Gröber. Here you will find what is right from our more than 30 years of practical experience.
